South Carolina Sweeps 2011 Carolinas Classic

South Carolina avenged a sweep in 2010 by turning the tables and sweeping North Carolina in the 2011 Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic at Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  The South Carolina girls scored a 64-52 victory, while the South Carolina boys won a thrilling 87-84 contest.

University of South Carolina signee Aleighsa Welch scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds to earn the South's girl's team MVP award.  Danielle Butts, who will play collegiately at the University of North Carolina, was the MVP for the North Carolina All-Stars after scoring a game-high 15 points.

In the boy's game, South Carolina signee scored a Carolinas Classic record 35 points to lead the South squad.  His record eight three-point field goals was capped with a trey with four seconds to play that gave South Carolina the win.  North Carolina's Johnathan Cannon scored nine points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to earn North Carolina's MVP honor.

In addition to the three-point made baskets and points records posted by Leonard, South Carolina's Eric Washington dished out a record eight assists and Kameron Dunnican set a record with six blocks.
